Roots Japan, a non-profit organization
Beautiful Mikkaicho in Shizuoka Prefecture.
Here, I am beginning to work to breathe new life into the area.
It is an effort to coexist with the community and nature through hunting.
I, Hiroaki Okamoto, am promoting this activity as the chairman of Roots Japan, a non-profit organization.
'I am a little afraid to call myself a hunter. I have always felt that a true hunter has the skill, knowledge, and deep respect for nature".
My activities started with supplying local restaurants and households with wild boar and deer meat obtained through the capture of pest birds.
And the initiative has evolved further into a new business that reuses the remaining parts of the product as pet food.
I believe that "Mikkaicho is the perfect place to try something new."
The setting for my new business is a meat processing facility in a renovated old house.
With this facility, we aim to maximize the use of local resources and create a sustainable cycle.
My idea is not just a business model.
Through these activities, we aim to revitalize the community, deepen connections with people, and develop the community as a whole.
It is born out of my philosophy of the "cycle of life.
I truly believe that "by sharing and reusing the life we receive from the mountains with the local people, we can create a new cycle of life."
This new challenge has just begun, but I hope that my passion and vision will help light up the future of Mikkaichi Town.
