My family and I moved from Tokyo to Mishima City, Shizuoka Prefecture three years ago.

The reason I considered relocating was because I wanted to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and lead a more relaxed life surrounded by nature.

Shizuoka Prefecture is rich in nature and offers a wide variety of tourist attractions such as oceans, mountains, and hot springs.

Mishima City, in particular, is located at the foot of Mt. Fuji and has clean air and a mild climate.

There is also plenty of good water and food.

Before moving to the area, I did not try living there for the experience, but there was support from the government.

MISHIMA LIFE SUPPORT TROOP

Mishima City has a system called "Mishima Kurashi Ouen-tai" (Mishima Living Support Team) for immigrants.

This system not only introduces vacant houses and rental properties in the city, but also provides lifestyle counseling and support for community exchange.

We were able to use this program to find a property that met our needs.

Life after immigration is very comfortable.

Families enjoy nature and interacting with local people.

Children are especially active in school and community events.

It also offers a full range of public services, including medical care and education.

Immigration difficulties

One of the difficulties of immigrating was the initial difficulty in communicating with the locals.

Unlike in the city, relationships are closer, so it is necessary to observe manners such as greetings and participation.

Driving a car

I was also puzzled by the need to drive a car.

In the city, public transportation such as trains and buses were convenient, but in Mishima City, shopping and commuting are inconvenient without a car.

However, these difficulties were resolved with time.

The people in the community were kind, warm and welcoming to us.

I am getting used to driving a car and feel rather free to move around.

In addition, I am able to enjoy rich nature and a safe, relaxed lifestyle that I cannot experience in the city.

Shizuoka Prefecture is a good place to move to.
