It has been about a year since I moved to Numazu City, Shizuoka Prefecture.
When considering relocating to Numazu, what I found attractive about the city was the opportunity to live surrounded by the natural beauty of Shizuoka Prefecture, the abundance of delicious food, and the enjoyment of interacting with the local people.
Prior to immigrating, I experienced a few days of hands-on stay in Numazu City.
In doing so, I realized that the local people are very friendly, that nature is abundant, and that it is possible to lead a quiet and serene life.
In addition, the Numazu City government provided information and events to support immigration, and we felt a sense of security when we moved to the city.
The reason for moving was to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and to live a life surrounded by nature.

ToggleNumazu City is rich in nature and has a mild climate
I was born and raised in Tokyo and have grown accustomed to the conveniences of the city, but I also found life in the natural surroundings of Shizuoka Prefecture appealing.
Numazu City also offers a wide variety of tourist attractions, allowing visitors not only to enjoy nature to the fullest, but also to interact with local people on holidays.
When we moved to Numazu City, the main reason we chose this location was because of its rich nature and mild climate.
Shizuoka Prefecture has a wide variety of nature, including oceans, mountains, and hot springs, which is very appealing to me as an outdoor enthusiast.
Also attractive was the fact that it is easily accessible from Tokyo and offers a good living environment.
Troubles after moving to Numazu City
Communication with locals
On the other hand, there were also difficulties in migration.
I had a hard time communicating with the locals at first.
Numazu City has a small population compared to Tokyo, and the distance between people in the community is different, making it difficult to get to know each other.
However, as we lived there, we gradually got to know each other, and one day that symbolic event occurred.
That day, as I was walking through the city, it suddenly started raining.
Since I did not have an umbrella, I hurriedly decided to take shelter somewhere.
So I went into a nearby tavern and was helped by the locals.
The owner of the tavern welcomed me warmly and offered me delicious food and drinks, even though it was not his restaurant's business hours.
The owner then approached the locals and they too welcomed me with open arms.
I learned a lot by interacting with the locals through their drinks and food.
I then frequented the taverns and enjoyed the interaction with the locals.
They treated me like one of their own and there were many heartwarming moments.
This event inspired me to take a closer look at the interaction with the local people.
The other thing that troubled me at first after moving here was that I was used to the conveniences of the city, so I was confused about my living environment.
Need to drive a car.
I was also very confused the first time about needing to drive a car.
I was not confident in driving a car, especially since I had lived in the city for so long and was used to public transportation.
However, after moving to Numazu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, I realized that a car is indispensable.
Buses and trains are available in the city, but they are less frequent and have more limited routes than those in Tokyo, making them inconvenient without a private car.
At first, I was not confident in my ability to drive a car, so I decided to practice after I got my license.
People around me were also used to driving, so I was able to drive little by little, receiving advice on how to drive and road conditions.
I also felt that the relatively low traffic volume in Numazu City made it relatively easy to drive, even for beginners.
Still, driving a car for the first time was nerve-wracking.
Road signs and traffic rules also varied from region to region, so it was necessary to get advice from locals and check maps.
However, over time, as I got used to it, I was able to drive the car on my own.
Now that I can drive my own car, I can freely visit the diverse tourist attractions of Numazu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, and I feel glad that I moved here.
If you come to Numazu, come here.
In addition, while driving around Numazu City, I would particularly recommend the following two tourist attractions.
Numazu Port
Numazu Port is one of the most popular fishing ports in Shizuoka Prefecture and is well known by many people.
Here, you can enjoy a wide variety of fresh seafood, which is handled in abundance.
The market also has restaurants and food stalls for dining and shopping.
Furthermore, Numazu Port provides easy access to tourist attractions in Shizuoka Prefecture, such as Miho no Matsubara and the Izu Peninsula, making it an ideal base for travel.
Shizuoka Prefectural Art Museum
The Shizuoka Prefectural Museum of Art is located in the northern part of Numazu City.
Here, art lovers will find art works from Shizuoka Prefecture and other parts of Japan and abroad on display.
The building itself is also artistically designed and boasts high quality as a museum, from the exterior to the interior.
Furthermore, there is a nature-rich park in the vicinity, which can be enjoyed in collaboration with the museum.
