The "Kakitagawa Park" introduced here is a lush green park located in Shimizu-cho, Shizuoka Prefecture.

Kakita River Park is a lush park located in Shimizu Town, Shizuoka Prefecture, where the Kakita River, one of the three clearest rivers in Japan, flows.

There are many spring water spots in the park where visitors can enjoy the pure water from Mt.

Kakita River Park

Kakita River Park is suitable for those who want to relax, see beautiful scenery, and play casually.

As for why we recommend it, "Nature is abundant and beautiful! That is the only word I can use to describe it.

The Kakita River is said to be one of the three clearest rivers in Japan, and you can sometimes spot kingfishers and Spanish crabs.

There are many spring water spots and water pumping stations in the park. Fuji for 100 years, so the water is very clean.

At the water pumping station, you are free to drink and fetch water. I used to pour it into a plastic bottle I brought with me and take it home with me.

In addition, "Kitchen Kaseumi" offers a full range of tofu dishes using Kakita River water!

There are cold tofu, mapo tofu, tofu steak, etc. And of course, desserts and beverages.

There is also a place called "Restaurant Kawasami Honkan," but reservations are preferred, so it would be better to make a reservation if you want to be sure of having a meal there.

(Please note that we are open on Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.)

Here you will find the "Shokado Bento Matsu".

Of course it contains tofu.

Soup, side dishes, and sweet dishes are added depending on the season, so it will be a pleasure to visit each season.

The tofu here is really good, and I hope you will stop by when you come to visit.

Then, along with "Kitchen Kaesemi" and "Restaurant Kaesemi Honkan," there is also a "Tofu Ice Cream" store.

There are basically four types: plain, green tea, strawberry, and kinako (soybean flour), but some are seasonal.

I love the matcha tofu ice cream here and eat it every time I go.

It is a taste of personal memories.

In case you are wondering, the 12th of every month is Tofu Day, and Tofu Fest is held at the Tofu Museum.

(Between 10:00 and 15:00.) They have delicious tofu available at a lower price than usual.

(Normally 250 yen without tax.) Recommended for those who "love tofu."

There is a souvenir store near its tofu pavilion. There are many wasabi, pickles, squid and octopus marine products, and other nearby specialties!

It is delicious with sprinkles, etc.

Tofu and seasonal Shokado bento boxed lunches at the Kaseumi Main Restaurant, made with spring water from Kakitagawa Park.

I told you that nature is beautiful, but all I could talk about was the food.

I think I have already told you all about that, so let's talk about the scenery from here.

The rivers and springs here are truly beautiful and are home to many rare plants and animals.

One such species is the Aohada damselfly, which is found only in the Kakita River in Shizuoka Prefecture.

Orthetrum albistylum speciosum (subspecies of white-tailed skimmer)

I was once relaxing by the riverside and a green dragonfly perched on my arm.

I was surprised but very beautiful body.

The park has a wooden walkway that leads through the trees.

If you follow the route in order, you will see many spring water spots and streams.

Of course, all of them are beautiful, but the most notable feature is the 5-meter-deep fountain.

The picture is a little dark because of the shadow, but in reality it was a little bluer and the way the sand rose and fell at the bottom was mysterious.

There were several people taking pictures when I was there.

The photos in the article were taken by me with my iPhone 6 and I like them myself because they are so beautiful.

You may be tempted to throw money into the water, but please be careful not to do so, as the water is also used as drinking water.

The park also has a spring and a lawn area.

The spring water plaza is a creek-like area where visitors can go down to play.

The water is quite cold even in summer because it is a spring, but it is a great place to cool off.

Unlike the grass plaza, it is not open, so that may be another reason for the coolness.

The depth of the water is consistently about the calf of an adult.

The lawn area is open and has a fountain and water play area.

I remember that this one was artificial and the depth of the water was shallower than the spring water plaza. I used to play here when I was a child.

I think it would be convenient to have restrooms nearby. There were many families coming for picnics.

Access

Finally, we will briefly summarize accessibility and crowding.

71-7, Fushimi, Shimizu-cho, Sunto-gun, Shizuoka, Japan

The park is located along National Route 1, about 6 km from the Tomei Numazu IC, making it easy to visit even from far away.

The parking lot may be a little crowded during long vacations, but there is a shopping center called Suntomoon Kakitagawa nearby.

When it's crowded I borrow the parking lot there.

Please note that parking is available from 9:00 to 17:00.

The walking paths in the park are through the woods, so if you are concerned, it would be a good idea to bring insect repellent.

There is also a water play area in the park, so we recommend bringing a towel if you want to go in or if you have children with you.

If you wish to take home Kakita River water, we recommend that you bring a water bottle or PET bottle. (There are four water fetching stations in the park.)

FAQ

Why is the Kakita River so clean?

The Kakita River is home to a wide variety of organisms because of its constant water temperature and flow, which is fed by a spring from Mt.

This beautiful river is one of the three clearest rivers in Japan, along with the Nagara and Shimanto Rivers.

The water of the Kakita River is naturally purified over several decades of rain and snowfall at Mt. Fuji, and appears as clear spring water on the ground.

This spring water amounts to more than one million tons per year, and the water temperature is always maintained at about 15°C.

Lava formed by the eruption of Mt. Fuji plays a major role behind the high transparency of the Kakita River.

Fuji rainfall and snow slowly pass through this lava and gush out through the porous Mishima lava flow and the layers of the old Fuji volcano, which are difficult for water to penetrate.

This natural filtering system and stable water environment are the secret of the Kakita River's beauty.

What is the total length of the Kakita River?

At 1,200 meters long, the Kakita River is the shortest first-class river in Japan, flowing through Shimizu-cho, Sunto-gun, Shizuoka Prefecture.

This small river carries water from its confluence with the Kano River to Suruga Bay.

This river is one of the three clearest rivers in Japan and is as beautiful as the Nagara and Shimanto Rivers.

The limpid water of the Kakita River comes to the surface as spring water after 26 to 28 years of natural purification of precipitation at Mt.

The daily supply of this spring water is an astonishing 1.2 million tons.

This is equivalent to filling a 25-meter pool by 2,000 cups.

In 1985, it was recognized as one of the "100 best waters in Japan" for its beauty and cleanliness.

The surrounding area has been developed as "Kakita River Park" and is loved by many people as a place for relaxation by the citizens.

The park has a walking trail that takes about 40 minutes to walk around the park and enjoy its beautiful scenery.
