Do you like hamburgers?
I like it.
I'm usually a rice person, but I suddenly find myself craving it, and I like the fact that I can easily eat it like a snack whenever I feel like it.
And I like fish.
I may be a bit reluctant, but I especially like the sweet and spicy stew.

ToggleVoluminous sea bream burger
During my trip, I found a strange and delicious dish that combines these two seemingly incompatible cuisines.
Introduced here is a local delicacy from Shimoda City, Shizuoka Prefecture: the kinmedai (sea bream) burger.
The word "kinmedai" may conjure up strong images of it as a luxury food.
I would love to eat it, but it would cost me 3,000 or 4,000 yen (too expensive to eat on this trip, but I think it was about that much for a whole fish boiled in soy sauce).
It's hard to step out of the way to pay.
There is a spot near Izukyu Shimoda Station where you can enjoy such kinmedai for 1,300 yen including tax!
I wrote this because it was so delicious and I wanted to share it with you all.
Shimoda Burger
Its name is "Shimoda Burger.
Ra-maru
You can get it at the hamburger café Ra-maru, which is located in the roadside station Kaigoku Shimoda Minato and has a nice atmosphere.
The store is filled with figures and objets d'art of cute American characters.
Since the port park is right next to the restaurant, we recommend not only eating in but also taking out on a sunny day.
There is nothing better than eating a hamburger in the warm sunshine with the sea breeze blowing in your face.
Now, what is amazing about this hamburger is its volume.
It takes about 10 minutes after ordering at the cash register.
I do not know the detailed weight, but it is definitely more than the equivalent of three cheeseburgers from a certain famous hamburger store.
Looking at the pictures on the menu, you may be thinking, "I wonder if I can eat all this?" But this burger is not at all tough! It is very easy to eat.
The oil used for frying is good, refreshing and crispy (they are fried in oil at 180°C for 5 minutes).
(It is quite firm and, shall we say, crunchy.)
It is fried to a golden brown and has none of the "grittiness" that is often associated with fried foods.
The fried sea bream, which is originally a white fish, gives the dish a very elegant taste even though it is fast food.
(The fries are big, too!). After taking a bite, you will feel a pleasant crispiness, followed by the gentle sweetness of the sea bream that spreads in your mouth.
high cost performance
This is a tourist attraction, but to be able to eat it for 1,300 yen is quite a high cosmetic value.
It should cost at least $1,800.
A large hamburger usually costs about 1,800 to 2,000 yen.
Fried grated whole fish
The secret is that they are not "croquettes," which are sea bream "croquettes" strung together with sweet potatoes, but "fries," in which the whole large grated fish is deep-fried.
As expected, sides and drinks are extra, but the whole meal will make you "comfortably full" and you will be highly satisfied even with a single dish.
Of course, it is made with sea bream from the Izu Sea, a specialty of Shizuoka.
The vegetables, such as lettuce and tomatoes, are crisp and fresh!
It is not at all sinashina-like. The overall flavor is reminiscent of simmered sea bream.
It is "sweet and spicy," and the harmony with the melted cheese inside is irresistible.
It is not too salty, but has just the right flavor that many people like.
They use two types of cheese, cheddar and camembert, to add depth and richness to the flavor.
Well, this time I (late 20s) took a friend (female) about my mother's age to eat there,
Even my friend, who usually laments that she has a "bloated stomach," was able to eat a whole one.
'Satisfyingly light in a good way!' He said.
I eat quite a lot, so I could have had another one if I wanted, but I decided to keep it to one for the rest of the meal.
Now, this is the excellent Shimoda Burger/In plain English, it's the Kinmedai Burger.
How to get to the roadside station Kaigoku Shimoda Minato, where Cafe Lamar is located, where you can eat this is easy.
It takes 10 minutes on foot from Izukyu Shimoda Station along Route 135 in the direction of Shirahama,
Three minutes by car! It's close. I don't think you will get lost.
Just go straight ahead with the ocean on your right.
This roadside station is like a market, where you can find not only fresh and delicious seafood from Shizuoka, but also seasonal fruits such as "New Summer Oranges," which are only available in Shimoda, and sweets, juices, and jams made from these oranges.
You can get all the Shizuoka souvenirs you need in one place, and if you wanted to, you could stay there for hours.
Please feel free to enjoy "Shimoda Burger," an excellent burger made with sea bream, while strolling and shopping on a fine day.
I personally would like to see this gourmet food sold all the time.
At the moment, you can only eat it here in Shimoda, which is famous for its sea bream.
