Sunpu Castle Park is a comprehensive park located in the center of Shizuoka City, and is built on the ruins of Sunpu Castle, where Ieyasu Tokugawa lived as a grand prince.
This castle is said to have been the residence of the Imagawa clan in the vicinity 650 years ago, during the Muromachi period (1336-1573), when Norikuni Imagawa was appointed as the guardian of Suruga Province.
In the park, the Honmaru and Ninomaru, which were located inside the middle moat, have been developed, and there are various plazas and facilities such as the excavation information center Kyashiru.
Although there is no castle tower today, the East Gate, the Tatsumi Tower, and the moat in the Honmaru remain in part.
